The Odenwald Residence is a
temporary home for people who have been affected in some way, as a result of belonging to
a cult or controlling group.
This professionally staffed, residential home for 6 to 8 former cult members is more
than a mere symbol of hope for them and their loved ones that there is life after the
cult. It will give them enough counseling and support to get them to be functioning,
independent people. Former cult members are neither ill, nor criminal, nor crazy. They are
normal, average, intelligent people. Anyone can be approached and recruited by a cult. No
one consciously "joins" a cult: people join interest groups that appeal to their
needs. And cults are experts in exploiting those needs, the deeper desires, hopes, as well
as inadequacies and frustrations every normal person experiences at some point.
